Wimborne, you never disappoint! What a wild and wonderful weekend Cher and Tash had at this year’s Wimborne Folk Festival, filled with rain, sunshine, giggles, and a whole lot of glitter.

Day 1: Wonderfully Wet!

Saturday began with high spirits and low clouds. By 4 pm, we felt more like we were sailing the Titanic than setting up for face paints and glitter tattoos, it was that wet. But the rain couldn’t dampen our fun (or our face paint)! Despite the soggy start, we were met with numerous smiling faces, from little ones eager to see butterflies and tigers to adults brave enough to face the weather and add a bit of sparkle.

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who showed up and stood in the drizzle just to see us. Your enthusiasm and warmth made it feel like the sun was shining, even when it wasn’t. And with the weather forecast teasing us with promises of a brighter Sunday, we packed up with hopeful hearts and soggy socks.

Day 2: What a Difference a Day Makes

And wow... Sunday delivered! The sun came out and didn’t leave us once. From the moment we opened at 10 am, it was non-stop glitter, brushes, and laughter. Cher and Tash were full steam ahead to 5 pm, with barely time to take a sip of water or sit down. Even as we were packing up, we had a few last-minute customers asking for “just one more”, and of course, we couldn’t say no. Especially to those “older kids” (yes, adults, we’re looking at you!) who love getting their faces painted just as much as the little ones.

One of the most special moments of the weekend came right at the end. Our very last customers were two adults who told us they’d been painted by Cher 11 years ago, one as a cat and the other as Batman. They came back this year just to recreate that memory, and it made our hearts so full. That’s what this festival is all about – creating joy, making memories, and coming together year after year.

Throughout the day, we saw so many familiar faces, customers from previous festivals who made a beeline for our stall to say hello and get their annual face art. Seeing your faces again (some a little older, some now bringing their little ones!) reminds us why we love doing what we do.

Until Next Year, Wimborne!

From soggy smiles to sunny sparkles, this year’s Wimborne Folk Festival was another magical chapter in our glitter-filled journey. Thank you for bringing your faces, your laughter, and your stories. We can’t wait to return with our face paints, glitter tattoos, and funky hair wraps. Until next time, stay sparkly!
