Romsey Beggars Fair, 12th July

Phew! What. A. Weekend. Cher Funky Punky hit up the Romsey Beggars Fair and, let me tell you, it was a scorcher! We were all prepped and ready for a buzzing couple of days, but it ended up being one of the quietest events we’ve worked in a long while. Not a huge surprise really, with that sun blazing down, half of Hampshire must’ve headed straight for the beach!

Even with the slower crowd, we still had some lovely moments, plenty of smiles, a few funky braids, and some fab face art. But unfortunately, not everything went to plan. One dad walked off without paying for his daughter’s 17" purple removable braid. 😔

Now, we know accidents happen, but in 20 years, this is only the second time we’ve been left out of pocket like that. And it really stung. Each braid takes time, effort, and love, and we’re a small business that pours our hearts into what we do. So yeah… that one hurt.

BUT we weren’t about to let that be the end of the story.

On the way home, Cher popped in to see some good friends (shoutout to the people who always have your back!), and not only did she borrow a cool box (lifesaver in this heat), but ended up painting the whole fam. Like, full face-painting session, giggles, glitter, and good vibes all round. Total mood-lifter and exactly what was needed.

Every event has its highs and lows, but we’re still here, still funky, and still showing up with colour, sparkle, and love.

Thanks to everyone who supported us over the weekend. 💜
