oday started with a worry that I'd forgotton something.  With my van poorly in the garage my wonderful mechanic let me use a much smaller garage van so I could get to my job.  Amazing that this was it posed a few problems.  My all singing - all dancing stall with everything I might ever need in it wouldn't fit!  So out on the ramps it came, drawers opened and all their sparkly contents emptied into my 'mini kit' bag.  Gazebo unloaded.  Best take the weights . Will I need the walls?  What else will I need?  Have I got enough glitter gel? Is there enough variety of face painty colours?  Ermmmmm.......  As usual I was worrying way too much.  The set up still looked good and I had more than I needed if that's even possible.

Arriving early to set up for 2pm start the venue was a large grassed court yard in the middle of the Marjon Uni buildings made to look just like a mini festival.  It was brilliant with a small outdoor stage, a great variety of inflatables from Fun Matters, food, bar, big cushions and summer deck chairs plus whatever had been laid on inside the buildings.

As soon as I finished setting up two gorgeous little girls immediately wanted painting.  The first had some lovely flowers like an arm tattoo on one side and feathers on the other arm. Her sister, well ha ha ha...not having all my usual kit with me meant I didn't have the large display boards so I said,

"You can be anything you want if I haven't done it before there's always Google and I can look it up there."

This lovely young lady promptly replied with,

"I want to be a Hatchimal please"

What the hell is a Hatchimal I thought!  She was happy I wish I had taken a photo to look back on my attempt! FYI this is a Hatchimal...looks like a Furbe to me.

The first hour was quite slow but it wasn't long into the second hour I had a queue of students mainly wanting glitter with the odd glitter and paint and of course no face painting gig is complete without a couple of Spidermen.  Even security got involed.  If you've not got glitter your not coming in! Ha ha ha!

At 5pm I called Rhys over who had booked me. I still had a queue of wannbe sparkles.  He authorised additional overtime which meant everyone waiting also got sparkled and I finally finished and left a great fun filled event an hour and a half later.

The bands were great, the students were great, the security were great and the help setting up and tatting down was great! An unusual and truly appreciated helping hand thank you!  I would love to come back and create smiles for Marjon Students Union anythime you are looking for some painty, sparkly smiles.  A 5* customer.  Thank you for choosing Cher's Funky Faces / Funky Punky!
