Wow…what a finale to an unforgettable weekend! Day 2 of the Pirate Festival brought sunshine, sparkle, and a whole lot of pirate pride. With the Funky Punky crew in full swing, the energy was non-stop from sunrise to sunset.
Kaylie Funky Punky and Sophia Funky Punky were up bright and early once again to catch the incredible Pirate Fun Run, organised by the fantastic team at Jeremiah’s Journey. Watching those little pirates dash across the course was a sight to behold; some of those kids were seriously speedy! Dressed in bandanas, face paint, and pirate gear, they brought a sense of adventure and community spirit that set the tone for the day.
Next stop: the high seas! Or more accurately, the Plymouth Boat Party’s swashbuckling cruise. The Funky Punky face-painting chairs were quickly surrounded by eager little
buccaneers. Scars and skulls took centre stage this time, but dolphins and mermaids also joined the crew to bring a touch of sea magic. Fake blood? Check. Glitter? Double check. The kids looked epic as they rocked their new pirate looks, ready to conquer the waves.
And the karaoke? Unmissable. The boat practically turned into a floating concert as the kids sang their hearts out to tunes from the new Minecraft movie. It was joyful chaos, and every chorus brought more smiles, giggles, and applause from fellow cruisers.
While the sea was singing, Cher Funky Punky was working her magic solo over at Royal William Yard. Another super busy day, but with an absolutely wonderful vibe. As Cher said, “The Royal William Yard always is a cut above the rest with its clean detail and atmosphere!! It's such a beautiful setting.” Her brush flew from face to face, creating stunning designs that had kids and parents grinning all day long.
She even managed to sneak in a few snaps of her creations, though in truth, she was still dreaming of glitter by the end of it all! Luckily, she had a special little helper to keep things running smoothly and capture those joyful moments.
Massive thanks go out to the organisers for putting on another unforgettable year, and a heartfelt shoutout from Cher to Suzy for booking us time and time again. Your support means everything! And a special thank you to Steve from Hook & Line for the after-work paint session on Sunday, it was superbly appreciated after a weekend full of face-painting magic.
Day 2 was a perfect end to a weekend filled with creativity, community, and full-on pirate fun. From the first fun run to the last glitter swirl, it was all about making memories and sharing smiles.
Until next time, me hearties, stay funky, stay bold, and keep that pirate spirit alive!
