What a weekend we’ve just had! From the 3rd to the 5th of May, Cher & Tash brought all the colour, creativity, and chaos to the legendary Brixham Pirate Festival – and wow, what an incredible time it was. After a long few days of braiding, painting, laughing, and braving the coastal winds, we’re officially knackered... but in the best possible way!
Despite the chill in the air, the sun held up beautifully – no rain, just glorious sea-splashed fun. The streets were filled with an amazing mix of pirate costumes, families, musicians, and plenty of festive cheer. The energy in Brixham was electric, and the harbour never looked more alive.
Cher Funky Punky and the always-amazing Tash set up their vibrant stall, surrounded by pirate flags, glitter pots, and endless queues of smiley faces. Face paints, hair braids, and happy chaos ruled the weekend! From tiny powder monkeys to grown-up pirates with big imaginations, everyone got involved in the fun.
One of our absolute highlights was when Cher got to flex a new skill she’s been working hard on this past year – Spanish! A lovely family from Spain visited the stall, and Cher had a wonderful time chatting with them in their native language. It was a heartwarming, proud moment – combining new language skills with the joyful magic of funky faces and braids. The smiles on that family’s faces said it all!
And guess what? We’re not done yet. If you missed us at Brixham, don’t worry – you’ll have another chance to catch the Cher’s Funky Faces crew on the 17th and 18th of May at Plymouth Pirate Weekend! We’ll be in multiple locations around the Plymouth Barbican, spreading colour and joy both on solid ground and aboard the much-loved boat parties.
